Mildred Irene Clow Obituary

Peacefully at Hilltop Manor Nursing Home in Merrickville in the afternoon of July 12, 2021, our mother Mildred Clow passed away at the age of 94.

Born on October 3, 1926 to Mabel and Horton Parslow, Mildred was the youngest girl of five siblings growing up on her beloved family farm near Lyn. On August 9, 1952, she married our father William Edgar Clow of Spring Valley, who predeceased her in 2004, and with him, built the renowned roadside market garden business, Clow’s Country Market. They retired on the property and continued to help out in the family business where they could.

Mildred will be deeply missed by her son Rodney (Teresa), Meribeth (Wes Rochester), grandchildren Erika (James Hawkins), Katie (Brennan Afelskie), Jonathan, Emelie and Leyland and great-grandchildren Corrine, Rannen and Gwen. Mildred’s daughter, Laurel (Michel Perron), predeceased her in 2002. Aunt Mildred is fondly remembered by her many family friends and relatives on the Parslow and Clow sides.

Mom loved to garden and, in her retirement, continued to grow enough produce to operate a roadside market. She was well-respected in the Women’s Institute, a wonderful cook, loved watching the birds from her patio door, took comfort in her feline friends and enjoyed discovering her artistic talents. She loved spending time with her family and friends.

In her later years, she moved to Bridlewood Manor in Brockville in 2012 and to Hilltop Manor in 2019. Mildred’s family is grateful to the many care-givers who helped Mom in her declining years.

Visitation will take place from 11 am to 1 pm followed by the funeral service on Saturday, July 17 at Irvine Funeral Home, 4 James St., Brockville. Interment at Oakland Cemetery will follow. There will be a reception at the home of Rod and Teresa Clow, 129 Temperance Lake Road after the service.

While Mildred loved flowers, donations can be made to Wall Street United Church, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, Diabetes Canada or a charity of your choice.
