Doris Ann McCloskey

<p>Doris Ann Taylor McCloskey passed away peacefully, with her daughter at her side, on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Mapleshire Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She had formerly resided at Chestnut Hill Apartments. Doris was born on February 20, 1928 in Brady, WV, the youngest of seven children of William Martin and Lelah Stewart Taylor. A 1946 graduate of Morgantown High School, Doris was an executive secretary at Montgomery Ward, where she met her husband, Francis "Mac" McCloskey. They were married on June 19, 1955. She retired in 1993 from the Morgantown office of the Girl Scouts of Southwestern Pennsylvania with 27 years of service. Doris was a member of Suncrest United Methodist Church. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, her special way with animals, and her devotion to her family, especially her grandsons, Michael and Patrick. Doris is survived by her daughter Anne McCloskey Stanton and husband, Bill of Morgantown; her grandsons, Michael Rafael Sarmiento of Raleigh, NC and Patrick Francis Sarmiento of Chicago, IL; her stepchildren, Edward McCloskey of Chattanooga, TN, Kenneth McCloskey and wife Margaret Ann of Collinsville, VA, and Kay Williams of Cincinnati, OH. She is also survived by 9 step-grandchildren and special niece, June Taylor Alexander of Morgantown, nephews, Barry and Bill Taylor of South Carolina, and Stephen and Martin Deahl, of Morgantown. In addition to her husband, Francis (March 6, 1988), she was preceded in death by her brothers, Denzil, Carl, Harold (in infancy) and Robert Taylor, and her sisters, Helen Taylor and Maxine Deahl. Special thanks to the staff of Mapleshire, especially Renee Hulvey, RN for her compassionate care. The family welcomes floral tributes, as well as donations in Doris's memory to P.U.R.R. WV No Kill Shelter, 306 Beech Street, Grafton, WV 26354. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Sunday, June 17, 2012 from 4 - 8 pm and again on Monday, from 10:00 am until the time of services at 11:00 am with Rev. Craig Falkenstine officiating. Interment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery.</p><p> </p>

Anne, I am so sorry for your loss. I really liked your mom, having first met her through girl scouts, and then got re-acquainted through church. She was a genuinely nice person.
