Jack Reese Gladding Obituary

Jack Reese Gladding, 94, went to see his loving Savior on, July 15, 2021. Jack was born at his grandparents’ home in Sheridan, Dec 13, 1926. Jack was capable of doing many things; always with perseverance and excellence. In his Senior year, he enlisted in the Marine Corp. He became the payroll officer at Camp Lejeune for 11 months at the end of WW11. On October 19, 1946, he married his best friend and love of his life Bonnalee (Skilling). Jack worked hard on road construction, driving his favorite heavy equipment, the yuke and crane. Many of the roads he built are the freeways you drive on today. Jack received (accepted?) the Lord as Savior while on road construction and continued to listen to the Lord. In 1959, Jack and Bonnalee purchased the Mason’s farm on Rt.66. He was a prosperous and successful dairy farmer until he sold the farm in 1967 to enter the ministry. Early on Jack found it challenging to speak in front of people, but, like God always does, He strengthened Jack to become a soul winner with much talent in oration and ministry. Jack received both his calling and ordination in the Wesleyan Church. He pastored many churches in the Wesleyan church into his 60’s. He continued serving God after he retired as interim pastor, and calling pastor, for Carson City UM Church, as well as performing weddings and funerals. Jack fought a good fight and kept the faith (2 Timothy 4:7). Jack loved spending time with family and friends, and always gave of himself to help family, friends, and anyone who was in need. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and competing at the game of golf. Jack was instrumental in building Hickory Hills Golf Course, Fenwick, MI, as well as a Signature Hole at Centennial Acres at Sunfield, MI. Jack leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Bonna Lee; children, Linda (Mark) Swan, Joan Vick, Dan (Marcie) Gladding; Siblings, Nancy (Dwain) Sinclair, Bob ( Linda) Gladding, and Pam Anderson; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces , cousins and friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Isabel Gladding; and brother, Max (Irene) Gladding. Funeral Services for Jack will take place on Friday, July 23, 2021, at 1:00pm at the Lux Funeral Home in Carson City, MI. Visitation will take place on Friday, July 23, from 11:00am – 1:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Bloomer Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation to the Carson City United Methodist Church or the Fenwick United Methodist Church.
