Sharlene (Sherry) Lucas Obituary

Sherry was born on April 11, 1947 to Arthur and Elaine Whaley. Sherry grew up in Kingston, Ontario along with her two brothers Wayne and Ricky. She would meet her first husband Wayne Pfeifer, who was stationed in Kingston with the Canadian Armed Forces. They got married on July 22, 1967. Together they had daughter Terri born January 9, 1971 and their son Dwayne was born May 15, 1975. After being stationed at various bases throughout Canada and Germany, they made the move to Gerald, Saskatchewan in 1978. They would divorce in 1983, but both stayed in the area to raise their children and in years later be a major part in their granddaughters’ lives.

On March 23, 1989 Sherry married Dennis Lucas and loved life on the farm. Since her kitchen was cow themed, her love for cattle farming was no secret. She had a great passion for raising various small farm animals, as well as her beloved dogs Snoopy and Carmel. You could always find her riding around the yard on her John Deere mower grinning ear to ear. Sherry and Dennis would reside on his family farm outside of Esterhazy, Saskatchewan until the sudden passing of Dennis in August of 2015. Sherry tearfully said goodbye to farm life later that year but was excited to make the move into town and settle into her log house.

Sherry has always been an avid traveller seeking adventures from Paris to Madge Lake and everywhere in between. Never shy to just jump in the water wearing her favourite bright pink water shoes. Sherry “Hot Lips” Lucas always had a love for bowling, even if strikes were hard to come by. Unfortunately, the only turkeys she would get, came in a burnt roaster. Sherry loved playing canasta with friends, water aerobics, coffee at the Galaxy and gardening. She always took such great pride in her family and friends. With her wicked sense of humour, she could make light out of any situation. Even towards the end she would brighten up a room and was truly one in a million. Sherry would lose her battle with cancer on July 11, 2021, surrounded with family by her side.

Predeceased by her parents Arthur and Elaine Whaley, her daughter Tammy Pfeifer, husband Dennis Lucas and nephew Richard Whaley.

Sherry is survived by her daughter Terri (Elgin), son Dwayne (Kerry), granddaughters Shelby (Rae) and Hailey, brothers Wayne (Linda) and Ricky, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
