Eugene “Gene” Kellogg Obituary

On Friday, July 9, 2021, after a long illness, Jesus came for Eugene “Gene” Kellogg and took him to heaven. He was born on August 25, 1937 in Fernwood, Pennsylvania to Winton and Delia Kellogg. He was preceded in death by both his parents, and siblings, Alice Gillette, Jeanie Kellogg, Albert Kellogg, Fredrick Kellogg, Gracie Venice, Janet Borosky, and Robert Kellogg. Gene graduated from Lake Ariel High School in Lake Ariel, PA. Additionally, he graduated from Practical Bible Training School/Davis College in Johnson City, NY and completed online classes in counseling from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. He married his high school sweetheart, Graceann Mead and together they pastored several churches in upstate New York over the next 35 years. After retiring from the ministry, he moved his family to Elliston, Virginia to be near his adult children and their families. On July 2, 2021 Gene and Graceann celebrated 61 years of marriage. Gene was also self-employed as a painter for a number of years and enjoyed driving a school bus until he was 82 years old. Anyone who knew Gene knew he had amazing wit and an uncanny way of putting people at ease. He loved to make people laugh. You could always tell when Gene was near because you could hear him singing and whistling first. God put a song in his heart and he loved to use this talent for his Savior. He enjoyed spending time with his four children, ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Gene is survived by his wife, Graceann Kellogg; daughter, Debbie Anthony (Dan), daughter, Cheryl Conley(Farrell), son, Dan Kellogg(Suzanne), and daughter, Charlene Kellogg; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his brother, Bill Kellogg. The family would like to give special thanks to Oakeys Funeral Home and Duffy & Snowdon Funeral Home, as well as their many friends and church families, Shenandoah Baptist Church and LaFayette Church for their practical and spiritual care of the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Camp Eagle at Shenandoah Baptist Church, www.campeagleva.org Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Oakey’s North Chapel in Roanoke, Virginia. There will be a visitation one hour prior from 1:00 p.m. until the service time. There will be a graveside burial service held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 in Madison Union Cemetery in Madison Twp, PA at 11 a.m.
