Sandra Jo Trimble Obituary

Sandra Jo “Sandy” Trimble, died in the early morning hours of Saturday, July 10, 2021, at her home in Clarksville, IN, as her three children and son-in-law sang hymns to her by candlelight. Sandy was born on July 25, 1959, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, IN, to Harvey Elmer and Jennie Alene (Abbott) Spencer, both of whom preceded her in death. She graduated from Clarksville High School in 1977. She married Frankie Wayne Trimble in 1976, and together they had three beautiful children, all of whom now live in St. Louis, MO: Jennifer May Hester (Maj. Ryan Hester); Jacob Wayne Trimble (Levi Harris); and Jessica Darnell Trimble.

Being an Air Force wife took Sandy all over the western United States, including Wichita Falls, TX; Mountain Home, ID; Bakersfield, CA; Fresno, CA; Apple Valley, CA; and Klamath Falls, OR. Once she moved back home to Clarksville in 1996, Sandy reunited with high school sweetheart Dale Wayne Lyttle. The two of them shared many happy years together until Dale’s death in February, 2011; she will be buried next to him in Old Salem Cemetery in Charlestown, IN.

Besides being a Mom and homemaker, Sandy had a career outside the home, as well. She had worked at Hallmark and Payless Shoe Source, but she found her true passion as the store manager of Carlton Cards at the Oxmoor Center Mall in Louisville, KY. She loved working with customers and arranging the displays, especially the ornaments at Christmas time.

Sandy had a zest for life. She loved camping, and she loved trips on the open road. She loved animals; besides owning dogs, a rabbit, a desert tortoise, some chickens, and several fish over the years, she was especially fascinated by tree frogs, dragonflies, and monarch butterflies.

Sandy could often be found devouring romance novels or watching Hallmark movies. She got a lot of joy out of arranging flowers, and she absolutely loved the ocean. One of the last big family vacations was a trip she organized to Hilton Head, SC, in 2015, that included her dad, all three kids, her three grandchildren Justin, Zachary, and Riley, and son-in-law. They walked along the beach at night rescuing jellyfish stranded by the tide and saw alligators and exotic birds in the swampy areas nearby.

Sandy is survived by her three kids and three grandkids; sister Kathy Harris of Sellersburg, IN; sister and brother-in-law Patty and Col. Ron Wright of Mulberry, IN; former husband Frank Trimble of Floyds Knobs, IN; sister-in-law Wanda Weathers of Clarksville, IN; brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Margaret Trimble of New Albany, IN; and several beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends.

Besides her parents and Dale, Sandy was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law David Harris and Danny Weathers.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 18, at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, IN, from 2 to 7 p.m. A funeral Service of Death and Resurrection will follow on Monday, July 19, at 11 a.m. at Old Salem United Methodist Church in Charlestown.

Besides flowers, the family invites you to make donations in Sandy’s memory to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation (https://www.helpfightra.org/). Sandy is safe now where neither RA nor anything else can hurt her, safe in the arms of her loving God.
