Donald W. Nace

Donald Wilson Nace, age 98, passed away on July 8, 2021 at SpriTrust Lutheran Nursing Home. He was the loving husband of the late Emma M. (Baker) Nace who passed away in 2013. Donald was born in Hanover on May 26, 1923 and was the son of the late Wilson M. and Lucy (Sell) Nace. He graduated from Eichelberger High School Class of 1941. He then went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Navy before being honorably discharged. Donald spent most of his life working as a professional engineer for Sheppard Deasel, S. Morgan Smith, Allis Chalmers, and Voith. He taught a drafting class for five years at Penn State York, was a former member of the Spring Grove Lions Club, was president of the Allis Chalmers Credit Union (now known as First Capital Credit Union), was president of York Engineering Society, and was a member of the PA Society of Professional Engineers. Donald also enjoyed golfing, bowling, and growing roses. Donald is survived by his son Steven D. Nace and wife Patricia Yohn; his brother Philip G. Nace; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Emma M. (Baker); and his parents Wilson and Lucy. A memorial service in celebration of Donald’s life will be held on Saturday at 1:00PM at Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc. 175 N. Main St. Spring Grove PA 17362, with Pastor Paul Gausmann officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest next to his wife, at St. Paul Wolf’s Church Cemetery with military honors being provided by the York County Veteran’s Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Donald’s memory can be made to Saint Paul Lutheran Church, 250 Trinity Rd. York PA 17408.
