<p>Betty Mae&nbsp;Barton&nbsp;Stephens,&nbsp;83, of Gray, entered into his Lord&#39;s presence Thursday, July 8, 2021.&nbsp; The funeral service to honor her life will be held Saturday,&nbsp;July 10,&nbsp;2021&nbsp;at 1:00 p.m.,&nbsp;at&nbsp;Hart&rsquo;s Jones County Chapel&nbsp;with&nbsp;the Pastor Brad Blackmon&nbsp;officiating.&nbsp;&nbsp;Interment at Baldwin Memorial Gardens, Milledgeville will follow the service.&nbsp;&nbsp;The family will greet family and friends&nbsp;one&nbsp;hour prior to the service.&nbsp;</p> <p>Ms. Stephens was a humble Christian woman dedicated to her faith in God and her family.&nbsp; Her life was a living example of the Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 - &quot;And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.&nbsp;&nbsp;Betty married Jimmie Stephens from high school and was a loving supporting wife until his passing in 2015.&nbsp; Betty was the love of Jimmie&#39;s life and he was hers.&nbsp; They made their home in Putnam county where they raised their six children.&nbsp; Betty was a dedicated mother first and foremost and treasured her life with her children.&nbsp; During her final months of life she was under the care of Homestead Hospice.&nbsp; Betty passed peacefully at her home after years of battling Parkinson&#39;s Disease attended by her loving family.&nbsp; &quot;Her children rise up and call her blessed&quot; Proverbs 31:28.</p> <p>Ms. Stephens&nbsp;was preceded in death by her&nbsp;husband,&nbsp;Depear&nbsp;&ldquo;Jimmie&rdquo; Stephens, Jr.; parents, James&nbsp;Barton&nbsp;and Bessie&nbsp;Taylor&nbsp;Barton; brother, Joseph&nbsp;Barton; daughter-in-law, Celeste Stephens;&nbsp;and great-grandchild, Sidney Compagines.&nbsp; She&nbsp;is survived&nbsp;by&nbsp;her&nbsp;children, Peggy Hampton (Sam), of Gray,&nbsp;Brenda Bedsole (Jim), of Barnesville, Deborah&nbsp;Stephens, of&nbsp;Gray,&nbsp;Phillip&nbsp;Stephens,&nbsp;of Macon,&nbsp;Donna Stephens, of Griffin,&nbsp;and Matt Stephens (LaJeune), of Barnesville; grandchildren, Tina Pruitt (Jeff), of Gray, Earl Shaw, of Haddock, Ashley Skinner&nbsp;(Tyler), of&nbsp;Milledgeville, Christy Compagines, of Macon, Trent Purvis, of Gray, Keri Fowler, of Macon, Pamela Roberts, of Decatur, Alabama and Matthew Stephens, Jr. (Brandy), of Flint, Alabama; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jordan, Ava, Natalie, Weston, Titus, and Georgia Mae; and siblings, James Clyde Barton (Margarett)&nbsp;and Johnny Barton (Barbara).&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>The family would like to thank Homestead Hospice and Staff, Susan Clark, and Lucille Jackson for their attentive care provided.
