Winona Christene Donnell, 95, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2021 in Weatherford, TX. Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon, Texas with Rev. Steve Olsen, pastor of First Baptist Church of Canyon, officiating. Burial will follow in Dreamland Cemetery. Christene was born in Lockney Tx on April 15, 1926. She married WC (Shorty) Donnell on November 7, 1945. They were married until Shorty passed away in 2000 and enjoyed 55 years of happiness in Amarillo, Tulia, Canyon and their ranch NW of Las Vegas, NM. Christene and Shorty loved their ranch and created many family memories in the mountains and high country of NM. Christene graduated from West Texas State University in Canyon, TX in 1984 and taught school for 20 years. She had many friends in Weatherford, TX where she lived for the past 14 years. Even at 95, Christene was an avid quilter and blessed many family members with beautiful quilts. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Weatherford, TX and loved the Lord dearly. Christene is survived by 3 children, Gery Donnell (Susan), Katrina Donnell Kimble, Tammy Donnell (Chris Weaver). Grandchildren, Wade Donnell (Karla), Amber Koke(Brandon), Joshua Kimble(Lindsey), Jeremy Kimble (Dixie), Drew Kimble, Kalena Donnell Reynolds. She has many great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren. Christene was the oldest of 5 siblings who all preceded her in death, brother, Charles James Carthel, sister, Glynn Marie Daniel, brother, JD Carthel, and brother, David Jerrell Carthel.
