<p>John A. Dillon, 83, of Salem Virginia, left this earth to go to his heavenly home Thursday, July 8, 2021.<br /> <br /> Born April 18, 1938 in Newport, Virginia. He was the son of the late King and Kathleen Dillon. John was an avid lover of the outdoors, especially camping and fishing with his family. John was the heartbeat of his family and was a living testament to Matthew 6:21 “For where your treasure is, there will be your heart also”. He never met a stranger and loved to share his truck driving stories with anyone who listened. He was a pro at it since he spent 30 years doing it. He finally retired from the Town of Christiansburg. </p> <p>Left to cherish his memories are his wife Frances Dillon of Salem, Virginia, a daughter Jackie Delp of Princeton, West Virginia, son Brad (Crystal) Dillon of Roanoke, Virginia, brother Earl (Shirley) Dillon of Newport, Virginia and many extended family members by marriage as well as, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. </p> <p>The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Richfield Retirement Community, especially Robyn Witcher, Social Worker for all of the care, love and support provided. John will be missed by everyone who knew him. This world was truly blessed by his time here.</p> <p>On Saturday July, 10, we will celebrate the life of John Dillon at 11 am at Lotz Funeral Home, Salem Virginia with graveside to follow at Sherwood Cemetery.Friends may visit with the family July 9, 2021 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the funeral home.
