James Hampton, age 90, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Caroleton Manor in Connersville, Indiana. He was born August 16, 1925, the son of William and Alice (Durham) Hampton. He was a graduate of Steward High School in Oxford, Ohio. He proudly serviced his country in the United States Navy for four years. He owned the James Hampton and Son Construction Company in Oxford and retired in 1984. Jim loved all sports, politics, and outdoor activities, especially fishing. He also was a member of the Masonic Lodge and American Legion.
Left to cherish his memory are sons, Steven Hampton of Bath, IN, Ronald (Jeanne) Hampton of Oxford, OH, and daughter Bonita (Paul) Lanzer of New Castle, IN; grandchildren, Leslie (Bryan) Dessauer, Mary Alice (Brandon) George, David Hampton, Dustin (Lacee) Lanzer and Heidi (Blake) Reece; great grandchildren, Lauyrn, Hayden, and Gavin Dessauer, September, Kylie, Sophie Hampton, Carlee and Brenden Lanzer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Alta May (McCredie) Hampton of 61 years; son Randy Hampton; and brothers, Evert, Carson, Claude, Wayne and Lewis Hampton.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 until the time of the funeral service at 2:30pm on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at the Ogle – Paul R. Young Funeral Home, Oxford, OH. Burial will be in the College Corner Cemetery. Condolences may be made on line at www.oglepaulyoungfuneralhome.com
