Fred Krause Obituary

Frederick J. Krause, 85, of Toms River, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 2, 2011 surrounded by his family. He was born in Newark and has lived in New Jersey all of his life. Fred served in the US Navy and the US Air Force. He was awarded the Purple Heart for combat wounds he received when his ship was sunk during Operation Tiger, which was a top secret practice run for the invasion of Normandy during World War II. Fred also served in the military during the Korean War. After his military service Fred worked for the US Post Office for more than 30 years before retiring. He enjoyed golf and tennis and volunteering at Community Medical Center and Children's Specialized Hospital for many years. He was predeceased by his daughter Carol Gargano. Fred is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Annamarie, his daughters Diane Wozniak and her husband Conrad of Bayville, Marilyn Ballard of Flemington and his grandchildren Meredith Ballard, Hope Mayes and her husband Brad, Robert Ballard, Nicole Gargano, Bethany Wozniak, Dan Ballard, Justine Gargano, Jordan Wozniak and Jeremy Wozniak. Friends and family are invited to visit from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at the Ely Funeral Home, Neptune.
