Michael Stracka

<p>Michael (Mike) Stracka, age 56, passed away suddenly at Christiana Hospital on July 2, 2021 after 33 years in a wheelchair from a work accident.</p> <p>Mike is survived by his mother and father, Joseph and Patricia Stracka; his daughter Elizabeth (Liz or Lizzie) and her husband Seth Cordrey of Middletown, DE; &nbsp;brothers Joseph of Townsend and Gary as well as his sister in law Christine of Newark, DE; &nbsp;grandchildren Skylar and Owen Cordrey; aunt and uncle, Nancy and John Bergen of Colorado; aunt, Marilyn Zonis of Skillman, NJ; nephew Daniel Stracka of Newark, DE; niece Jessica Rogers of Trenton, NJ, and many cousins.</p> <p>Mike worked in the Elsmere Veterans hospital in the eye clinic and retired in 2011 when he began dealing with numeral medical issues. Mike was a dedicated and cherished member of Narcotics Anonymous. In his 16 years as a member, he served and supported the fellowship he loved.</p> <p>He loved his daughter and grandchildren, always supporting them in anything they did. He would light up anytime he would see his grandchildren and daughter. He loved watching movies with his father, listening to music, and spending time with friends and family. He was a loving and caring father, son, brother, cousin, uncle, nephew, as well as friend.</p> <p>Mike with his canine friends, Harmony and Annabelle, were active in Canine Partners for Life, going to schools and other organizations giving demonstrations. He always hoped that one day he could get another canine partner.</p> <p>Viewing will be held Saturday July 10, 2021 at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark, DE, 19702 at 10:00 am followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am.&nbsp; Burial will be private.</p> <p>In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Mike&rsquo;s memory to Canine Partners for Life, P.O. Box 170, Cochranville, PA, 19330.</p>
