Barbara Kay Adams Obituary

Barbara Kay Adams, 69, of Grain Valley, Missouri, passed away in her home on Sunday, July 4, 2021. A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 10th at The Church of Jesus Christ Saints Haven Restoration Branch with a service following at 11:00 a.m.; 300 Chicago Ave, Sibley, Missouri 64088. Barb was preceded in death by her father Frank (Dub) Adams who passed away in 1973 and her mother Leona Adams in 2015. Barb is survived by her three brothers Steve Adams and his wife Barb, Robert Adams, Rich Adams and his wife Alison along with three nephews and one niece. Ben Adams and his wife Jaclyn, Emily Twiehaus and husband, Kurt, Mitch Adams, Jonathan Adams and his wife Rachel, and Jordan Adams. She also loved her 9 great nieces and nephews Hayden Adams, Jeralyn Twiehaus, Cole Adams, Makenna Twiehaus, Bethany Twiehaus, Lucas Adams, Adam Twiehaus, Wyatt Adams, and Brooklyn Adams. Sharing about her life wouldn’t be complete if we left out her love of The Beatles. I’ve Got a Feeling that it is well known by all that Barb was a dedicated fan of The Beatles and more specifically, Paul McCartney. She saw her first concert on September 17, 1964 when she was in the 8th grade. At the time, floor tickets were $7.50 but her mom thought that was outrageous so Barb paid $4.50 to sit in the stadium. As We Come Together today, we all share something very special. We all spent at least one Day in the Life with Barbara Kay Adams. While that was her official name, many of us knew her simply as Barb, or for me she was Aunt Barb And I Love Her. With a Little Help from My Friends, I’d like to share with you about the Long and Winding Road Across the Universe that Barb was so blessed to lead. On November 2, 1946 Frank W. “Dub” Adams Jr. told Leona E. Williamson I Wanna Be Your Man and I Want to Hold Your Hand as they were joined in marriage. Barb’s Birthday was July 28, 1951 and then Here Comes the Suns, Stephen (Steve), Robert (Rob), and Richard (Rich). Let it Be known Barb graduated from Fort Osage High School in 1969 and continued her education at the University of Missouri Kansas City Dental School. She worked A Hard Day’s Night at Truman Medical Center East as an Expansion Function Dental Assistant and later on October 16, 1981 she continued her career at Mallow-Tru Dental Lab. She was a longtime and well respected employee of the lab for nearly 40 years often working Eight Days a Week as their Technical Advisor. Barb also loved to travel Here, There, and Everywhere. She loved visiting her beloved friends and family. She spent many years caring for her mother in the home and wherever they would go, they would Come Together. Her love for Paul McCartney was Real Love and never faded. She saw him in concert about 2 dozen times, the latest in July 2014. Fox4 even featured a story of Barb’s love for Paul McCartney and The Beatles. As requested by Barb, they got the message to Paul that She Loves You. Barb spent many hours sewing and could do so much more than Fixing a Hole. She loved cross stitching and was extremely creative. She began sharing her creative talents with others when she began Blackbird Designs with Another Girl and longtime friend, Alma Allen in 1998. Together they shared a love of color, pattern, and fiber. The duo produced books and patterns available at local quilt and cross stitch shops and designed 32 lines of fabric for Moda Fabrics. After a short but brave fight with esophageal cancer, Barb passed away on July 4, 2021 in her home in Grain Valley. Barb, I Want to Tell You that You Really Got a Hold on Me and... P.S. I love you. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Saints Haven Church Building Fund, c/o Richard @ 26312 E. Blue Mills Rd., Sibley, Mo. 64088 in memory of Barb.
