Richard “Dick,Pappy” W. Rozman, 88, of Windsor, beloved husband of Christine (Brodeur) Rozman, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021. Born in Windsor, 11th of 12 children of the late William and Stefania (Mielniki) Rozman. As a boy he was an active free spirit who excelled in sports which was his joy. He was raised in Windsor until his senior year of high school when he moved to Tallahassee, FL where he graduated from Leon High School and then started Florida State University where he played football and belonged to Alpha Tau Omega. He was drafted into the US Army during college and served in the Korean War. After his discharge he returned to Florida State where he earned his BA Degree. Dick returned to Windsor after college where he met his wife of 54 years, Christine and they have lived here until his death. Sports were his passion and during high school and college he played baseball and football. After school, he enjoyed golf, running, and skiing. He was an avid gardener and took great pride in his yard and flower gardens which he meticulously maintained. He wanted to be remembered as a gardener. One of his greatest pleasurers was skiing with his family and friends at Berkshire East until he was 86. Most of all he was a family man and spending time with his grandchildren was very important to him. He started the RW Maintenance Company in 1961 which he operated until his retirement. He was a member of the Windsor Garden Club and was Past President of the Newington Ski Club. Beside his wife Christine, he leaves his daughter Marla Rycerz and her husband Andrew of Windsor; his adored grandchildren Jaclyn and Jason Rycerz; a brother Walter Rozman of Vernon; a sister Helen Cheverier of Windsor; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by five brothers Robert, George, Carl, Henry, and Earl Rozman and four sisters, Marian Chorazy, Wendy Smiley, Lucille Hood, and Elizabeth Jansen. His family will receive family and friends Saturday, July 3, 2021, from 9:30-10:30 AM at The Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue, Windsor followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. Damien of Molokai Parish St. Gabriel Church, 379 Broad Street, Windsor. Burial will be private in Riverside Cemetery, Fairhaven, MA with military honors.
