<p><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">Southbridge, MA/Chambersburg, PA...George C. Proulx was called home by the Lord on June 29, 2021 at age 78. He was born in Southbridge, MA on February 21, 1943 to Claudio G. Proulx and Georgette Proulx. A lifelong resident of the Worcester, MA area, he had resided in Chambersburg, PA since 2013.</span></span></p> <div style="font-size: 16px; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">Mr. Proulx leaves his wife, Susanne T. (Ferron) Proulx and two sons, Christopher M. Proulx (Varya Siegel) of Ithaca, NY and Jeffrey M. Proulx (Andrea) of Chambersburg, PA. He leaves three granddaughters, Madison T. Proulx and Courtney J. Proulx both of Chambersburg, PA and Aliza G.C. Proulx of Ithaca, NY. He also leaves a brother, Gerard D. Proulx (Patricia) of Sturbridge, MA and two nephews, Jason Proulx (Renee) and Joshua Proulx (Kim) and his grand nephews and nieces, Jaxon and Everett Proulx and Alexandra Proulx.</span></span></div> <div style="font-size: 16px; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">&nbsp;</span></span></div> <div style="font-size: 16px; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">Mr. Proulx was a 1961 graduate of the former Notre Dame High School in Southbridge. He was a graduate of St. Anselm College in Manchester, N.H. with a B.A. in Sociology and from Assumption College in Worcester receiving both the M.A. and C.A.G.S. in Psychology and Counseling.&nbsp;</span></span></div> <div style="font-size: 16px; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">&nbsp;</span></span></div> <div style="font-size: 16px; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">He had a thirty-six year career as a high school counselor and guidance administration beginning in 1966 at Acton Boxborough HS&nbsp; in Acton, MA and later for 19 years at Minnechaug Regional HS in Wilbraham, MA and retiring from Shepherd Hill Regional HS in Dudley, MA. Following his retirement from Shepherd Hill, he was an Assistant Director of Admissions at Nichols College in Dudley.</span></span></div> <div style="font-size: 16px; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">&nbsp;Mr. Proulx was active in several professional organizations throughout his career including the Western Massachusetts Personnel and Guidance Association, the Massachusetts School Counselors Association where he was on the Board of Trustees for many years and served a term as President. Mr. Proulx was also elected to a term on the Southbridge School Committee and was active in many local organizations.&nbsp;</span></span></div> <div style="font-size: 16px; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">&nbsp;</span></span></div> <div style="font-size: 16px; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">While a communicant of Notre Dame Church of St. John Paul II Parish in Southbridge most of his life, he was also active in Wesley United Methodist Church of Worcester for several years. Upon his move to Chambersburg, he joined the Corpus Christi Parish, where was active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society and its food pantry.</span></span></div> <div style="font-size: 16px; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">&nbsp;</span></span></div> <div style="font-size: 16px; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:times new roman,times,serif;">The funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 7th from Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge with a Mass&nbsp;at Notre Dame Church, 446 Main Street,&nbsp;Southbridge &nbsp;at 11:00AM. &nbsp;Burial will immediately follow at St. George&rsquo;s Cemetery in Southbridge. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 7th from Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge with a Mass at Notre Dame Church, 446 Main Street, Southbridge  at 11:00AM.  Burial will immediately follow at St. George’s Cemetery in Southbridge. Calling hours will be Tuesday, July 6th at the funeral home from 4-6PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George’s memory to either the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or Society of St. Vincent de Paul at Corpus Christi Parish, Chambersburg, PA.
