Wanda M. Ramsey Obituary

Wanda M. Ramsey, 88, of Robinson, IL, died Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, IN. She was born April 7, 1933, in rural New Hebron, IL, the daughter of Roy & Sylvia Opal (Geeseman) Crampton, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Robert M. Ramsey on October 1, 1950, and he preceded her in death on January 2, 2008. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Betty Eilene Crampton (in infancy), and by her brother, Charles Crampton. She is survived by her two daughters, Debbie Ramsey (Robinson, IL) and Denise Walton (Robinson, IL); by her son, Duane & wife Donna Ramsey (Purcell, OK); by her foreign exchange student-turned-"adopted" daughter, Stine Storkegård (and her family); by her grandchildren, Chrissy Ramsey, Clint & Kimberly Ramsey, Joslyn Dunlap, Levi Damron, Krystal & Lance Cooper, Jess & Shana Walton, and Kacie & Nick Flenniken; by 17 great-grandchildren; by her sister-in-law, Norma Mendenhall; as well as several nieces and nephews. Wanda grew up in the New Hebron area and was a 1950 graduate of Robinson High School. She went on to work as a secretary for both Case Pottery and the State's Attorney's office. During her tenure with the latter, she took the time to mentor many who found themselves in trouble and in need of compassionate guidance. Away from work, she found great enjoyment and fulfillment in traveling. She and her family would often pack up and head to northern Minnesota. Here, they would stay at their cabin and fish for weeks at a time. These trips would provide her with countless precious memories to look back on, as they were spent with those she loved most in this world. Anyone who knew Wanda could attest to the fact that her loved ones meant everything to her. She was a devoted wife, a dedicated mother, and a doting grandmother and great-grandmother. In short, her family brought life to her living, as did her church family. A lifelong member of the New Hebron Baptist Church, she was a staple in the choir and was also a longtime treasurer and Sunday School teacher, impacting the lives of many souls over the years. Wanda wasn't just a "Christian" on Sunday; she lived by faith, day-in and day-out. It was clear that her 88 years were partnered with the Good Shepherd, who has delivered her back into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 2nd, at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 3rd, at the New Hebron Baptist Church, with Pastor Lee Gurley officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the "New Hebron Baptist Church", with envelopes available at the funeral home and church.
