Estelle S Zaleski, 89, of Port Chester, NY passed away peacefully on June 29, 2021 at King Veterans Home in Wisconsin. Estelle was the daughter of Mae Wykowski and Charles Ekstrom. Estelle was married to Henry Zaleski and was preceded in death by her husband and parents. Estelle is survived by her three sons, John (Joann) Zaleski, Stephen Zaleski, and Brian (Christina) Zaleski, and 5 grandchildren, Andrea, John Jr, Stephen Jr, Henry, and Lucy who she treasured and loved dearly. Estelle and Henry were high school sweethearts and married 64 years. Estelle worked for many years at Karavan Trading Company in NY retiring in 1995. In retirement, she moved to Wisconsin in 2003 with her husband. Estelle will be remembered for her great attention to detail and immaculate home. She loved to share stories of how she was selected to inspect parachutes for the military as a young girl. As a girl she also had quite the singing voice, laughing when she admitted that she spent her voice lessons money on cigarettes as a teenager. She loved to play cards, play bingo, make puzzles, take trips to the casino, and visit with family and friends. Estelle enjoyed cheering for her grandkids at sporting events, plays, and concerts. She also had a sweet tooth whose eyes sparkled whenever baked treats or chocolates were delivered. She was a no-fuss, no nonsense lady, who loved and worried about her family dearly. She would have given the shirt off her back for a stranger. She will be greatly missed. Services will be private. Our family would like to especially thank the Wisconsin Veteran’s Home at King for the compassion and dignity displayed for Estelle, and her friend Melda who brought sunshine to her days there.
