Alice Butler Tindal

Alice Butler Tindal, resident of Auburn, AL, and formerly of Wetumpka, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at Bethany House at age 91. Her funeral service will be held Friday, July 2nd at First Baptist Church, Wetumpka. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. with the service following at 11:00 a.m. Private burial will follow at Pineview Memorial Gardens. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Colonel Paul I. Tindal, her parents Mary and Grady Butler, sister Mary Irene (Sidney) Williams, brother W. Grady Butler, Jr., and sons-in-law Lamont Major and Warren Dow. She is survived by her children, Mary Alice Major, Lee Dow, and David (Allannah) Tindal; her grandchildren Sarah Cecile Hess, Paul (Allison) Dow, John (Rachel) Dow, and Mary Anna Tindal; her great-grandchildren Paul, Camp, Vivienne, Graham, Rhys, Malia, and Levi; nephews Sid Williams and Bobby (Julie) Williams; and a special cousin, Cooper Askew. Alice was born December 13, 1929, in Greenville, AL. After finishing Greenville High School and then secretarial school in Montgomery, she married Paul on October 1, 1950. They were residents on Lake Jordan for 42 years and long-time active members of First Baptist Church, Wetumpka. Alice enjoyed her many travels with Paul across the United States, but her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with whom she shared her avid love of nature. Donations may be made to the East Alabama Food Bank, First Baptist Church Wetumpka, or a charity of your choice.
