Grace Smith, 82, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away on June 29, 2021 at her residence. She was born February 1, 1939 in Palmer, Tennessee to the late Lester and Ella (Cookston) Tate. Grace married Maurice Smith on May 31, 1958 in Mount Vernon. They were blessed with 63 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on December 22, 2012. Grace is survived by her children, Mark Smith and wife, Debbie and Kim Davis and husband, Tim, all of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Krystal, Mark, Christy, Amanda, Josh S., Josh Y., Amber, Travis, and Tad; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Bonnie Kluck of Ina, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, Grace was preceded in death by her son, Dennis Smith; and several siblings. Grace was a member of Harlan Road Church of God. She cherished the time shared with her family and friends. Grace will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. A Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at the Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Chapel in Woodlawn, Illinois.
