Mr. Joe B. Taylor, of Sparta, Georgia entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Navicent Health Baldwin, Milledgeville, Georgia.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 1:00 PM from Victory Baptist Church, Milledgeville, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Milledgeville, Georgia.

 Mr. Joe B. Taylor, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lee B. Taylor and Willie Jo Taylor, was born July 14, 1938 in Deepstep, Georgia. Joe was a graduate of T.J. Elder High School and continued his education at West Georgia College, Georgia College and State University and the University of Georgia. After completing his studies, he served seven years in the United States Army Medical Corp. Joe enjoyed a long career in the education field. Joe believed one of the most challenging and rewarding jobs was teaching the hearing impaired. He taught Special Education classes for 18 years at Central State Hospital, Continuing Education classes at Georgia College and State University and worked as a consultant throughout the educational department with the Bill Ireland Youth Development Center. Joe was an active member of the community serving on the Washington EMC Board of Directors since 2002. He served at the local Boys and Girls Club in Milledgeville, coached Little League Basketball at the Baldwin County Recreation Department as well as taught at the Youth Development Center. Joe had always enjoyed working with children, where he volunteered his time teaching vocational skills to people with learning disabilities to allow them to become functional members of the community. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Gracie H. Taylor; his sister Mary Taylor of Sandersville; by his children, Josie Sanford, Joe (Cotina) Taylor, all of Milledgeville, Kelvin (Milissa) Taylor of Dumfries Virginia, his 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. His beautiful life will forever be cherished by many family members and friends throughout various communities.
