John K Davis

John K. Davis, 81, of Whatley, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at his residence. He was born in Carbon Hill on January 14, 1940 to John Kermit Davis and Ida Mae Myers Davis. A twenty-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was awarded an Accomodation Medal. After his military retirement, he worked with Ciba Geigy as a Training Coordinator and Instructor and was a member of the Ham Radio Club. He was a devoted family man and member of Horeb Baptist Church.<br>He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Voncille Lowe and Peggy Murray.<br>He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruby A. Davis; children, Ken Davis, Jr., Debra (Ken) Tyler, Kim (Milton) Sheffield; grandchildren, Shelby (Corey) West, Chelsey (Will) Crawford, Jason (Brooke) Robison, Phillip (Katie) Moore, Claire (Trayce) Flowers, Mendy Gates, Aubrey (Brett) Prylinski, Amelia Sheffield, Amberly Sheffield, fourteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Kathy (Joe) Aldridge, Marie "Joyce" (Harold) Johnson; sister-in-law, Deloris (Benny) Counselman; brother-in-law, Melvin Anderson and numerous other relatives and friends.<br>Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Lathan Funeral Home in Grove Hill with the Revs. Warren Shewmake and David Webb officiating.<br>Pallbearers will be Trayce Flowers, Phillip Moore, Jason Robison, Glenn Smith, Justin Smith and Rodney Smith.<br>Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Anderson, Melvin Anderson, Asa Baugh, John "Bimbo" Baugh, Benny Counselman, Charles Finch, Charles Knowles, William McConnell, Roger Robison, Terry Rolling and Derek Robinson.<br>Condolences may be offered at www.lathanfuneralhome.com.<br>
