DURHAM: Christine Wallace, 88, of Durham died Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Croasdaile Village Pavilion, Durham. Born in Success, MS, one of eleven children, she was the daughter of the late Loren Emory O’Neal and Jewel Elva O’Neal. Christine graduated from Success High School and Perkinston Junior College, Mississippi, where she lettered on the school’s basketball team. She retired from the North Carolina School System. Christine was a Meals on Wheels volunteer, was a Girl Scout Leader, and was active in United Methodist Women and received the Achievement Award for her service. She sang in church choirs for over 60 years. She was the best sourdough bread maker and her recipe is still being used today to make communion bread. Christine was an avid puzzler at Croasdaile Retirement Village. Christine was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Christine made special Christmas stockings for each family member. Christine Wallace is survived by her husband of 68 years, Robert Louis Wallace; children, Robert Lee Wallace and wife Tanya, Debra Wallace, Merry Jane Mullins and husband Mark, Larry Duane Wallace and wife Tammy, and Kimble Louis Wallace and wife Rhonda; grandchildren, Chevonne Wallace, Jennifer Thompson and husband Ryan, Nathan Mullins and wife Katherine, Brandon Wallace and fiancé Krystal, Landon Wallace, Justin Mullins and wife Sarah, Jason Wallace and wife Holli, and Brentson Wallace; and great-grandchildren, Tyler, Logan, Aubree, Taylor, Evie Joy, Avery, Braelynn and Milo; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law. She was a favorite aunt to dozens of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 11th at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. A graveside service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, or to your favorite charity.
