Robert J. Dumpprope, 64, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Thursday, December 10 at Essentia-St. Mary's Hospital in Detroit Lakes. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 Noon on Thursday, December 17 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes, Msgr. Timothy McGee, officiating. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at David-Donehower Funeral Home. The visitation will continue 1 hour prior to the mass at the church on Thursday. Robert Julius Dumpprope was born September 9, 1951 in Ozark, Alabama to Milford and Alice Mardell (Skaar) Dumpprope. His family lived in a number of communities prior to moving to Detroit Lakes in 1970. Robert was united in marriage to Mary Knopf, August 6, 1977 in Detroit Lakes. He graduated from the Carpentry Program at the Detroit Lakes A.V.T.I. and then worked for Dave Brainard Construction, Swift and Company in Detroit Lakes and Frazee, and for West Central Turkey Processing in Pelican Rapids, MN until ill health forced his retirement in 2008. Robert enjoyed time with his grandkids, fishing, hunting, watching the Vikings and Twins, watching western movies and playing cards. For two years he helped with the Little League Baseball program. Survivors include his wife, Mary of Detroit Lakes, a son, Mike Dumpprope of Phoenix, AZ, a daughter, Amanda (Jeff) Nundahl of Dilworth, MN, three grandchildren, Jacob, Zachary and Brooklyn; four sisters: Janet (Gilbert) Aguire of Hesperia, CA, Linda (Steve Roiko) Cusey of Karlstad, MN, Sandy (Jesse) Cusey of Sebeka, MN, Pam (Bernard) Dahlvang of Sebeka, MN, three brothers, Darrell Dumpprope of Staples, MN, Paul (Kim) Dumpprope of Pine River, MN, Gary Dumpprope of Staples, MN, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Matthew, his parents and a sister, Judy Dumpprope. David-Donehower Funeral Home is serving the family.
