Grace Zarkesh Obituary

Grace (Mezzina) Zarkesh passed away June 24th at her home in Mountaintop, PA surrounded by her loving family. She was 82 years young. Grace was born in Hoboken, NJ on March 27, 1939 a daughter to the late Lena (DiBari) and Damiano Mezzina where she lived, moving to Weehawken, NJ, Union City, NJ, Parsippany, NJ and Mountain Lakes, NJ before coming to reside in Mountaintop, PA in 2002. She was a graduate of Demarest High School, Class of 1957. She worked in the Radiology Department at St. Mary’s Hospital where she met her future husband, Dr. Reza Zarkesh. They married on October 21, 1961 and worked together for 50+ years to build a successful medical practice in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Charities of meaning to Grace were St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and The American Cancer Society of which she was a Treasurer for the Local Chapter in Parsippany, NJ. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Grace Church in Hoboken, St. Christopher's Church in Parsippany, St. Catherine's Church in Mountain Lakes and St. Jude Church in Mountaintop, PA. Grace was Secretary and then President of the Mountaintop Senior Social Club where she gathered weekly with her much cherished friends. Together they traveled, shared stories, went to shows and casinos, and simply celebrated life. She is survived by her loving children and grandchildren with whom she shared the gifts of song, dance, laughter, and joy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 28th, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Vincent de Paul RC Church, 250 Bebout Ave., Stirling, NJ. A live stream of the Mass can be viewed at stvincentschurch.org. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum in East Hanover, NJ. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of the Valley Memorial Funeral Home, Gillette, NJ.
