Richard Duane Myers, 64, of Hartford, passed away on June 21, 2021. Son of loving mother, Elene, and late father Thomas Myers of Bristol, CT, Rich was a graduate of Bristol Eastern High School ('74), Bates College ('78) and completed graduate-level work towards a Master’s in Public Relations at Boston University.

He began his distinguished career at the United Way of Central Maryland before spending many years in leadership roles in financial marketing, communications, and business development at Mechanics Bank, Bank of Boston, and Clark University’s Graduate School of Management.  Rich was passionate about building strong communities and served on several non-profit boards in Worcester, MA including Junior Achievement, the MLK Business Empowerment Center, and the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Rich is survived by his beloved son, Thomas Myers and his wife, Alexa, of Holliston, MA, beloved daughter Katherine Myers of Los Angeles, CA, sister Sherelyn Labowski and her husband, Ted, of Southington, CT, brother, Thomas Myers and his wife, Lisa, of Bristol, CT, niece Alasia Griebel of Tolland, CT, nephew Jesse Griebel of Ferndale, MI, and his former wife, Mary Myers, of West Roxbury, MA, along with other dear cousins and friends. Rich was also a proud grandfather of cherished grandsons James and Colin Myers of Holliston, MA.

Rich was a life-long Yankees fan and never missed the opportunity to make the drive from Massachusetts to the Bronx with his kids to watch a playoff game, even it if meant little sleep for the next day's work. He was a keen student of history and loved to spend family vacations at historical sites across the East Coast. Rich loved music, most especially jazz, having been a brass musician, following in his father's footsteps. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking in the White Mountains in his earlier days and local nature walks as time passed.

Relatives and friends will gather in honor of Rich's life for a visiting hour on Saturday, June 26 at 9:30am at the Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Avenue, Bristol, CT that has the honor of serving Rich’s family.
