Wanda Pauline Thompson

Wanda Pauline Thompson, 78, of Springfield passed away on Wednesday June 23, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Wanda was born on March 29, 1943 in Cabool; the daughter of Leo and Pauline (Strain) Canterbury. She married Robert Thompson on June 19, 1964 at her home in Cabool MO. He survives. She is also survived by a sister Linda Morgan and husband Marion of Cabool MO, a brother James Canterbury and wife Janet of Neodesha, KS, a son John Thompson and significant other Karen Hancock of Mountain Home, AR, a son Stephen Thompson of Ozark MO, an ex-daughter-in-law Dianne Saunders of Nixa, MO, a granddaughter Jessica Barron and husband Jessie of Springfield, MO, seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one infant son and one granddaughter. Wanda worked for the Civil Service as a Database Engineer, creating and testing extensive operational programs for the military and other organizations. She retired in 2003. She enjoyed creating crafts of most every type. It did not matter what it was, if she had an interest in something she would learn it and master it to the best of her ability. She greatly enjoyed quilting, knitting, creating stained glass items, and crocheting. She was also an avid bowler for several years. Cremation Rites have been accorded and a Graveside service will be held for Wanda at 10:00 AM. on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Springfield National Cemetery at the corner of Glenstone & Seminole.
