Karl M Bock Obituary

Karl M. Bock, 93 of Tomah, passed away Monday May 9th, 2016 at the VA Hospice in Tomah WI. Karl was born October 14th 1922 in Ohrdruf Germany to Max and Martha (Kraus) Bock. His family was one of the last families to immigrate through Ellis Island; he became a US Citizen in 1931. Karl served his country in the US Army from December 1945 until July 1972. His tours of duty included WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He was proudest of his service with the 187th Airborne Rangers 8th Company (Rakkasans) achieving over 500 jumps during his career. Additionally he was a Military Police Officer and received: The Bronze Star Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, The WWII Victory Medal, and The Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars and The Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars as well as many other Medals, Awards and Honors. Karl enjoyed spending time with family and friends, he was always eager to lend an ear or helping hand to anyone. "Bock" was dearly loved and will be missed by all who had the opportunity to know him.

Karl was preceded in death by his Father, Mother, Brothers Hans and Reinhold Bock.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016, 2:30 P.M. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St. Tomah WI. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday from 1:30 until the time of the service. Burial will be at the Wood Cemetery, Town of Byron with military honors.
