Sovilla F Hershberger Obituary

Sovilla F. (Mast) Hershberger, 75, of Kalona, died Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Fairview Mennonite Church. The service will be live-streamed to the Beatty Peterseim Facebook page. Burial will follow at the Fairview Mennonite Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Thursday, June 24, and Friday, June 25, from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM at Fairview Church. A memorial fund has been established for Iowa City Hospice. The Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.

 

Sovilla F. (Mast) Hershberger was born July 20, 1945, in Moultrie County, IL, the daughter of Fred and Anne (Schrock) Mast.  She was united in marriage to Firman Hershberger on March 25, 1971. The couple just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Sovilla was a member of Fairview Church and enjoyed gardening and working outside.

 

Survivors include her husband Firman of Kalona; three children: Darwin (Andrea) Hershberger of Greeley, CO, Debbie Hershberger of Kalona, Darrin Hershberger; four siblings: Lydia Ann (Melvin) Miller of Tuscola, IL, Susie Mast of Sullivan, IL, Ervin (Edith) Mast of Arthur, IL, Pauline (Ivan) Schrock of Sullivan, IL; three in-laws: Leon Helmuth of Windsor, MO, Abraham Yoder of Milton, IA, and Vera Mast of Sarasota, FL.

 

Preceding Sovilla in death were her parents, four children: Juanita Ann, Verton Lynn, Virgil Lyle and Keith Daniel, four siblings: Mary (Mrs. Leon Helmuth), Emma (Mrs. Emery Glen Gingerich), Barbara (Mrs. Abraham Yoder), Joe Mast and brother-in-law Emery Glen Gingerich.
