Gladys Leone Blackwell, age 97, of Mayville, formerly of Attica, died Sunday, January 29, 2017. Gladys was born April 17, 1919 in Pontiac, to Henry and Lottie (Wever) Sabell. She married Don Blackwell on July 7, 1947 in Napoleon, Ohio. Mrs. Blackwell was a member and attended Hunters Creek Community Church for many many years. She retired in 1978 from Oakdale Center here in Lapeer, where she was in charge of the purchasing department. Gladys enjoyed knitting, crocheting and time spent with family. Gladys is survived by her; children: David (Leota) Farrell of Harrison, Michigan and Margaret (Roy) Heckman of Mayville; 9 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Blackwell was preceded in death by her husband: Don Blackwell in 2014; parents: Henry and Lottie Sabell; and brother: Kenneth Sabell.. Visitation for Mrs. Blackwell will be Noon – 2PM Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer. Gladys' funeral service will immediately follow visitation at 2:00PM Thursday, February 2, 2017, at the funeral home, burial will follow in Dawn Memorial Cemetery.
