Hazel Stroud Wiggins

Greenville - Hazel Stroud Wiggins, 86, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, February 26, 2018. The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 6 pm in the Smith Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service. A graveside service will be conducted Thursday at 11am in Pinewood Memorial Park. Hazel, daughter of the late Lapo and Lola Rouse Stroud, grew up in the Fort Barnwell community. She married Grover Wiggins and they made their home in Calico, where they were members of West Vanceboro Church of God. She was a minister, evangelizing at many churches in the area and was a nurse, serving in many different capacities. Upon the death of her husband in 1990, she moved to Greenville and was a member of Greenville Church of God until her health declined. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her six sisters, Mildred Dunn, Bernice Stroud, Grace Deaver, Mary French, Nannie Ruth Mitchell and Shelby Jean Byrd; and two brothers, Ben and Bud Stroud. Hazel is survived by her daughter, Belinda Bartley and husband Shawn of Winterville; step son, Grover Joseph Wiggins of Chocowinity; grandchildren, Kali Bousquet, Joshua and Kiara Bartley; four great grandchildren; and a sister, Gladys Broadway and husband Charles of Fort Barnwell.
