Greenville - Mr. Don Rogers, 94, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, August 30, 2016. The funeral service will be conducted Sunday at 3pm at Greenville Church of God. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Don, a native of SC, served in the US Army during World War II where he was a part of the first wave of infantry in the D-Day invasion of Normandy. He received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and the French Jubilee of Liberty Medal, given to him by Congressmen Walter B. Jones in a special ceremony in Greenville. He retired as a rural mail carrier for the US Postal Service and was a longtime resident of Fairmont where he was a 50 year member of Fairmont First Baptist Church. Following the death of his wife, Elna Jenson Rogers, he later met and married Doris Wingate in 1993. He was a former member of the Greenville Church of God and a current member of Passion Church of God in Vanceboro. In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Rogers McDaniels. Don is survived by his wife, Doris Wingate Rogers; son, D. Jeffery Rogers and wife Kay of Lumberton; granddaughter, Dana Fullmore and husband Andre of Fayetteville; stepsons, Al Wingate, Jr. of New Bern and Phillip Wingate and wife Pam; stepdaughters, Rhonda Riley and husband Michael, all of Greenville, and Rev.
