Mark William Jacobson Lapeer, Michigan Obituary

Mark William Jacobson

Mark William Jacobson, age 70, of Lapeer, Michigan and Marana, Azizona, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015. Mark was bravely battling Esophageal Cancer, but complications from treatment ended his beautiful life. Mark was born September 23, 1945 in Kalamazoo, to Harold "Jake" and Reva (Wood) Jacobson. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Michigan State University and Master's Degree from Western Michigan University. Mark met the love of his life, Judy Schultz, while attending MSU and they married on campus at the Little White Chapel by the Red Cedar River, January 4th 1969. He proudly served his country in the US Army, at Fort Knox, during the Vietnam War. Upon discharge from the Army, Mark, Judy and new daughter Jennifer moved back to Michigan and Mark entered the world of banking with National Bank of Detroit followed by American National Bank of Kalamazoo. Eventually, Mark turned his business attention to the oil and gas industry, eventually buying CMS Oil Company from his Father in Law, Carl M. Schultz. Mark was a beautiful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Although he was not a beautiful golfer, he loved the game, belonging to both Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club, in Michigan and The Gallery Golf Club in Arizona, and played often with his wife, son, and son in law. He will be remembered by those who knew and loved him as, thoughtful, selfless, unwavering in his kindness and always with a smile on his face. His beautiful mind was orderly and full of numbers, his sense of humor dry, and his wit sarcastic. He was conscious of his fitness, working out with friends at the Lapeer Community Center and took pride in being healthy. He could not love or be more proud of his three beautiful grandchildren whom he doted on. He lived a beautiful life. Mark is survived by his wife Judy Jacobson of Lapeer: children Jennifer (Butch) Yerian, of Grand Blanc and Derek Jacobson of Poudre Canyon, Colorado; grandchildren; Paige, Claudia, and Samuel Yerian; and siblings; Judy (Art) Gaylord of Kalamazoo, Mary (Rick) Stellick of Appleton, Wisconsin and John Jacobson of Henderson, Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents: Jake and Reva Jacobson; and in-laws: Carl and Marian Schultz.
