Jo Anne Shosie, age 73 of Darlington, WI passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, June 20, 2021 with her loved ones by her side. She was born on July 16, 1947 in Shullsburg, WI the daughter of Timothy L. Nethery and Shirley E. (McFarland) Nethery. Jo Anne grew up in the Darlington area where she went on to attend and graduate from Darlington High School. She was united in marriage with her best friend and soulmate, Gregg Arthur Shosie on May 6, 1983 in Rockton, IL. Jo Anne spent several years working at William’s Manny Insurance and then Rockford Blacktop. She then joined her husband Gregg owning and operating Shosie’s Bicycle Store and Kegels Bike Store until retirement in 1997. Jo and Gregg then moved to Cape Coral, FL where they enjoyed many years creating memories with family and friends. In the summer months, Jo and Gregg traveled the U.S. in their motorhome meeting new friends and experiencing adventures along the way. After Gregg’s passing, she returned to her hometown, Darlington, to be closer to her family. Jo Anne was a member of the Darlington United Methodist Church. She enjoyed hanging out with her family and friends playing cards, telling stories, and going on shopping sprees. Jo loved a good bargain! Jo Anne is survived by her mother, Shirley of Darlington; her son: John (Tamara) Wilhelmson of Kenosha, WI; her grandchildren: Kendall and Jackson Wilhelmson of Kenosha; her step-daughters; Renee (Jose) Malachowski of Naples, FL and Raquel Atkinson of Fort Myers, FL; her step-grandchildren: Auria, Lauren, Caleb, and Jordyn Malachowski; her four brothers; Thomas (Bonnie) Nethery of Sussex, WI, John (Pat) Nethery of Darlington, Ronald (Susan) Nethery of Wiota, WI, and James (Mary) Nethery of Madison, WI; and her two sisters: Donna (Ric) Douglas of Darlington, Kay (Bruce) Steidinger of Loves Park, IL; many nieces and nephews; and best friend Linda Bawden. She was preceded in death by her husband: Gregg; her father: Timothy; and one step-grandson: Ian Atkinson. Jo Anne was truly a very adventurous spirit and a very kind hearted lady. She will be truly missed by her family, friends, and peers. A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 12:00 P.M. at Darlington United Methodist Church (546 Park Place, Darlington) with Rev. Jim Droste of Dodgeville United Methodist Church in Dodgeville, WI officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Shullsburg. A visitation will be held Saturday, June 26, 2021 from 9:00 A.M. until 11:45 A.M. at Darlington United Methodist Church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family.
