Richard L. "Dick" Kessler Obituary

Richard L. “Dick” Kessler, age 90, of Hillsdale, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2021, at the Hillsdale Hospital. He was born on August 14, 1930, in Hillsdale to Frank and Elsie (Woodworth) Kessler. Dick attended Hillsdale High School and later North Adams High School where he graduated in 1949. He went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from Hillsdale College. He retired from Montgomery Ward in 1980 after working there for 26 ½ years. In 1981 he and Roger Seaney cofounded Steppenback Antiques. Together they traveled every weekend to various antique shows. Dick was a member of the St. Peters Episcopal Church where he sang in the choir for 25 years. He was also a former member of the Hillsdale Moose Lodge. Dick is survived by his friend, life partner, and coworker; Roger Seaney, and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, and three siblings; Marcia Tahar, Norma Kessler, and Franklin Kessler. There will be no services at this time for Richard L. Kessler. A burial at Oak Grove Cemetery will take place at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
