Myron "Mike" H. Loppnow Obituary

Myron “Mike” Loppnow, age 87, of New Holstein, passed away with his family at his side on Sunday, June 20, 2021, at his home following a short illness. He was born February 4, 1934 at Wayside, Wisconsin, to Walter & Adela (Knuth) Loppnow and baptized February 10th that year. Mike was confirmed on March 21, 1948 at Zion Lutheran Church in Wayside. Mike attended Brillion High School for one year and graduated from Concordia in Milwaukee in 1952. After attending two years at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO, he served in the US Army until 1962. On January 8, 1966, he married Janice Wordell at Zion Lutheran Church in New Holstein. Mike was employed by Tecumseh Engine Products in New Holstein until his retirement. He served on a variety of church committees; both in Zion Lutheran Church in New Holstein and Trinity Lutheran Church in Kiel. He was active in Alcoholics Anonymous since 1975 and served as a volunteer in the Kettle Moraine Correctional Institution. He loved classical music and reading the classics of literature as well as scientific articles; particularly in the field of astronomy. His hobby was writing in order to clarify his own thoughts and for sharing with select relatives and friends; but not for publication. He translated several church records for the Wayside and Morrison Lutheran churches. He also compiled a basic genealogy for the Loppnow, Gaedke (Borchardt), Knuth, and Beyer families. Survivors include his wife, Janice; his five children, Gary Loppnow of New Holstein, Cheri (David) Wusterbarth of Kiel, Jeff (Kathy) Loppnow of rural Fond du Lac, Tammy Bratz of Kiel, Tracy Loppnow (Julie Behrman) of Greenfield; 12 grandchildren, Zachary (Tracy) Wusterbarth, Brittany (Kyle) Thomas, Destiny (Todd) Holmes, Ramsey Wusterbarth, Harmony Wusterbarth, Jordan Loppnow, Joshua Loppnow, Jacob (Anna) Loppnow, Jade Loppnow, Derek Bratz, Ashley (Brett) Gutschow, Michael Burkart (fiancée, Kristen Haurin); 14 great-grandchildren; his sister, Delores Wordell of Brillion; his brother, Melvin (Sue) Loppnow of Wayside; his sisters-in-law, Bonnie Lau, Connie Wordell, and his brother-in-law, Roger (Carol) Wordell. He is further survived by many nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, Walter & Adela Loppnow; his son, Terry Loppnow; a great-granddaughter; an infant sister, Garnet Loppnow; his son-in-law, Keith Bratz; a sister-in-law, Carol Loppnow; two brothers-in-law, Rev. Karl Wordell and Howard Lau; and his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Edgar & Linda Wordell; and his step-mother-in-law, Edna Wordell. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Kiel (387 Cemetery Road Kiel, Wisconsin 53042), Rev. Brett Naumann will officiate. Visitation: Family and friends may visit with the family at Trinity Lutheran Church on Tuesday, June 22nd from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM. Military Rites will be conducted at the church following the service.
