Kessandra “Kessie” Rose Whicker Obituary

Kessandra “Kessie” Whicker, 33, of Juneau, AK passed from this life to eternal life on Monday, May 24, 2021 after a brave battle with congestive heart failure. This was complicated by other medical conditions she had struggled with throughout her short time with us. Kessie was a beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, mother, niece, cousin & devoted partner & friend. She was Deisheetaan from Took’kha Hít (Needlefish House) in Angoon and was named Shaachooká after her great-great-grandmother Esther Boyd. Kessie came into this world with great force & vigor and continued to face life’s difficult challenges with the same strength and tenacity. She pursued her education with academic excellence and graduated with honors from Juneau Douglas High School, with dreams, from age six, of becoming a pediatrician. From a very young age, Kessie loved the Lord with all her heart. She would dance in worship before the Lord and one of her favorite songs was ‘Heart of Worship’. Anything she pursued in life, she pursued with a passion. This led to over ten years of studying piano and ballet. Kessie was an avid reader and was often reading three or four books at a time. Her favorite books were ‘The Left Behind’ series and anything ‘Nora Roberts’. Despite the afflictions and unimaginable trials Kessie faced, she loved to love. And those she loved and cared about were often profoundly touched by her strength, loving kindness, thoughtfulness, generosity, and patience. Kessie was preceded in death by Aaron Whicker, husband; James Martin, maternal grandfather; and Sam Sollie, Sr., paternal grandfather. She is survived by her daughter, Adrienne Whicker; mother, Alice Martin Sollie; father, Sam Sollie, Jr.; stepmother, Shaunna Sollie; maternal grandmother, Margaret Martin; paternal grandmother, Terrie Sollie; sisters, Brittni Sollie, Ariel Yates, Cassandra Fallis, & Brianna Fallis; aunt & cousins, Carolee Martin, James Buchkoski & William Buchkoski; aunt, Susy Martin; aunt, Jacqueline Sollie Tabor & family; uncle, Frank Martin; uncle, Moses Smith; uncle, Randal Sollie & family; uncle, Kenneth Sollie & family; and numerous great aunts, great uncles, cousins, & many, many dear friends. A celebration of life will be held at Alaska Memorial Park & Mortuary, located at 3839 Riverside Dr. in Juneau, AK on June 23, 2021 at 2 p.m. The family encourages all who knew & loved Kessie to join them in sharing memories of her life and strength. Memorial donations may be sent to: Alice Sollie c/o POBox 21147 Juneau, AK 99802
