Dan W. Yoder

Dan W. Yoder, Sr., 85, of Sugarcreek passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021 at New Dawn Nursing Home in Dover following a period of declining health. He was born in Sugarcreek Twp. on August 11, 1935 to the late Enos M. and Anna R. (Yoder) Yoder and married Nancy (Emig) on December 26, 1964. She survives. He was the owner and operator of Yoder Duraclean Service and past president of the Penn Ohio Duraclean Association and had worked for Smith Funeral Home for many years. He was a member of First Mennonite Church in Sugarcreek where he had served as a deacon and on church council. He was a member of the Sugarcreek Lions and had served as President, along with GHS Music Boosters and both Miller Ave. and Baltic PTO's. He also was Scout Coordinator for Sugarcreek Troop 91. In addition to his wife, Nancy, he is survived by his sons, Dan W. Yoder, Jr. and David W. Yoder both of Sugarcreek; 6 grandchildren, Michael, Mark, John, Grace, Kyle and Claire; siblings, Emma Lena Yoder of New Philadelphia, Mary Ann (late Daniel) Miller of Sugarcreek, and Roman Yoder of Strasburg; brother-in-law Roman Miller of New Philadelphia and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 2 sisters, Sara Mae Yoder and Ada Miller. Services will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the First Mennonite Church in Sugarcreek with Pastor Mike Gehman officiating. Burial will follow in Union Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 4-7 PM at Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek and on Tuesday from 10-11 AM at the church prior to services. Memorials may be made to the First Mennonite Church, 113 W. Main Street, PO Box 250, Sugarcreek, Ohio 44681.
