Joseph M. Zoppa

Coventry - Joseph M. Zoppa, 68, of Stephanie Drive, died Sunday, July 3, 2011 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Marilyn (Vitale) Zoppa. Born in Newark, NJ, a son of the late Joseph M. and Rose (DeVito) Zoppa, he had lived in North Kingstown before moving to Coventry in 2007. In his youth he earned the rank of Eagle Scout from the Boy Scouts of America. His education included receiving a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Newark College of Engineering and an MBA from Stevens Institute of Technology. As an electrical engineer he worked in industrial sales and was vice president of the Process and Energy Measurement Corporation before retiring in 2006. He previously had served as National Sales Manager for Gulton Industries. He was a deacon of Exeter Chapel where he served on many committees in the church that he loved. He also was a member and past president of the Narragansett Bay Chorus. Besides his wife he is survived by one son Jonathan Zoppa and his wife Tammy of Danbury, CT; one daughter Lisa Greenless and her husband Jay of Woonsocket; one sister Linda Zoppa of Southbury, CT and was a loving grandpa to Aidan, Joseph, Jacob, Isabella and Gabriella. His funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 10:00 AM in Exeter Chapel, 765 Ten Rod Road, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday, July 6, from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. Burial will be in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown. Donations in his memory may be made to Exeter Chapel, 765 Ten Rod Rd., Exeter, RI 02822 or to the Diabetes Foundation of Rhode Island, 146 Clifford Street, Providence, RI 02903.
