Bernadette Marie "Bernie" Terry Missoula, Montana Obituary

Bernadette Marie "Bernie" Terry

MISSOULA ~ Bernie Terry, 98 of Missoula, Montana, passed away Sunday, June 13th, 2021 peacefully at her home. Bernie was a go getter and not much could keep her down. She was born April 12, 1923 to Herman and Josephine Priebe of Oshkosh, WI. She attended grade school at St. Vincent grade school and graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1942. After graduation, World War II was in full swing, so she went to Ft. Lewis, WA and worked in the commissary. At Ft. Lewis, she met Edward Terry and after only one week of dating, married on February 21, 1942. Their marriage lasted 69 years. Ed and Bernie traveled a bit in their early years of marriage living in California, Texas, Florida, Minnesota, Arizona, Utah, Washington and finally settling in Missoula, Montana. While living in Minnesota they built their own home and Bernie became quite adept at driving a tractor, laying brick, and pounding lots of nails. They loved to travel, garden and square dance. Ed was not one to fly so after his passing, at age 90, Bernie took her first plane trip to attend her granddaughter’s wedding in California. She loved it! Shortly thereafter, she jumped on the plane again to see her sister in Texas with her youngest daughter. Flying became one of her favorite ways to travel. Bernie worked for Saint Patrick’s Hospital in Missoula for 12 ½ years mostly in the isolation ward. She retired from nursing in 1978. She was active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Bernie is survived by her Sister, Elaine Jungen of Lubbock, TX, Connie Bauer (Allen) of Billings, Montana, Michael Terry (Ann) of University Place Washington, Tracie Hoffman (Bill) of Missoula, Montana and 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. We love you Mom and you will certainly be missed.
