James Clifford Johnson of Macomb Township passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at the age of 78 years. James was born on March 14, 1943 in Muskegon, Michigan. He was a son of Gerald Irwin and Eleanor Martha (nee Olson) Johnson. On May 13, 1966, he married Sun Cha Han in Korea. James was a proud United States Army Veteran. He worked in the nuclear missile sites in Korea during the Vietnam War. After completing his service in the military, James attended Wayne State University and obtained a degree in accounting and then on to Walsh College to finish his CPA. Upon completion of his college career, he started working as an auditor for the U.S. Army Audit Agency for the rest of his working life, retiring from the USAAA. When he wasn’t investigating numbers, James enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was passionate about racquetball and was a Senior Olympian at both the State and National levels. James was a long-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and served on the financial board there. He loved to attended his grandchildren’s sporting events and never missed a game or meet, always cheering them on. In the last several years, James has researched and worked on his Agent Orange Insurance Claim. He has spent countless hours finding out what could be done to ensure that his wife and son are compensated for everything he has went through due to his time in the war and contact with Agent Orange. James will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends. James is survived by his wife, Sun Cha; children, Barbara (John) Cundy; Ron Johnson and Ben (Becky) Johnson; grandchildren, Jacob Cundy, Jenna Cundy, Julia Cundy and Joshua Cundy; siblings, David (Kathy) Johnson, Tom (Sherry) Johnson and Linda Strait; loving dog, Bingo; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. James is predeceased by his brother, Butch Johnson and parents. A Visitation will take place on Friday, June 18, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hauss-Modetz Funeral Home, 47477 Romeo Plank, Macomb. The Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. with a 9:00 a.m. instate time at Immanuel Lutheran Worship Center, 47120 Romeo Plank, Macomb. Military Honors will take place immediately following the funeral at church. James will be laid to rest at a later date in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes would be appreciated to the Michigan Humane Society.
