Barbara Jean Molden Bedford, Kentucky Obituary

Barbara Jean Molden

Barbara Jean Molden has had many names during her 79 years on earth. On July 29, 1941, Barbara Jean Garriott was introduced into this world by Wayne and Clara Garriott in Carrollton, KY. Barbara was the third child after Freddie and Mary Ruth (both deceased), followed by Paul, Gary, Richard, William (deceased), and Joyce. The family lived and worshipped in Carrollton, KY. After leaving Carrollton, Barbara took Craig as her last name and brought six children into the world. While living in Trimble County, KY, Barbara welcomed Debbie, Timmy, Coby (deceased), Troy, Lonnie, and Darrin Craig. Barbara was always a natural caregiver, raising her children and other family members along the way. Barbara took her love of the caregiving profession into Jefferson County, where she became Barbara Jean Molden, wife of Ronald Molden. Barbara won numerous awards throughout her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She was frequently awarded for making people laugh at Caritas Hospital or providing the best bedside manner at Suburban Hospital. Some would consider that life fulfilled, but not Barbara. After retiring from the caregiving profession, Barbara started a career as a Sales Associate at Gordons Food Service in Louisville, KY. What was supposed to be a way to pass the time quickly grew into a full-time occupation at which she excelled, and Barbara walked away as an award winner yet again in Customer Service. Customers of the store knew Barbara by her incredible smile and the tasty suggestions she would share. Barbara loved to travel and did so at every opportunity. She could frequently be found hopping around the country with her husband and family. Fishing, catching a NASCAR race, or dipping her toes in the sands along the East Coast were things which Barbara loved to do. But even the borders of the United States could not keep Barbara contained. Barbara expanded her love for travel and began jumping around the globe. She went shopping in the bodegas of Belize, walked the beaches of Costa Maya, and enjoyed the views of Niagara Falls from both sides. At every point in Barbara’s life, she managed to change the world. Because of Barbara, fifty-six people are alive. Children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren throughout the country have Barbara Jean Garriott-Craig-Molden to thank! These individuals are now responsible for continuing her legacy and spreading the love and compassion which she can no longer give. Barbara led an exciting and fun-filled life, but, like many others, her adventurous spirit was brought down by cancer. Barbara lost her battle with cancer on June 15, 2021, the same way her daughter, Coby, did only a few years prior. Barbara asked that those who love her not send flowers, but donate to the cancer research society of their choice.
