Deacon Rufus Moore, age 72, formerly of 4806 Ridgecrest Drive, Thomson, GA was born on Saturday, December 4, 1948 in Thomson, GA. Deacon Moore entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at the Keysville Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Burke County, GA. The son of the late Lucy Alberta West Moore and the late Jeremiah Jett Moore, he was known to many simply as “Peewee.” He received his education by attending the Public School System of McDuffie County, GA. At an early age, he joined the Brinkley Chapel Baptist Church of Thomson, GA where he has served as a Deacon, Usher, Sunday School Member and a former Treasurer of the Church until his health began to fail him. During his employment years, Deacon Moore worked for Claussen Concrete Company, Lafarge Concrete Company, both of Augusta, GA, R.A. Dudley Nurseries of Thomson, GA and the former Uniroyal Plant of Thomson, GA. Deacon Moore was a strict Disciplinarian who was always loving and kind. Not only was he a man who believed in God, he was a man who would help anyone in need. In his spare time, he enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting and mechanic work. May he rest in peace! He will always be remembered with so much love. In addition to his parents, our beloved Deacon Rufus Moore is preceded in death by two sisters, Susie M. Ross and Roberta Moore; five brothers, Sim Moore, Jeremiah Moore, Sr., Edmond Moore, David L. Dunn and Jett Jr. Moore. Left to cherish his loving memories: three daughters, Rita Moore of Thomson, GA, Rochelle M. Garcia of Douglasville, GA and Phoebe (Darrell) Patterson of Augusta, GA; a step-daughter, Renae Sallywhite of Atlanta, GA; a step-son, Ronnie, Jr. (Robin) Sallywhite of Washington D.C.; eight grandchildren, Katrina Marshall, Regina Lambert, Raciundria Martin, Ronquavious Moore, Rasheonna Moore, RonDavion Davis, Ryley Johnson and Romel A. Garcia; five step-grandchildren, Ronkeem M. Sallywhite, Rontrequoine J. Ivey, Rhaniya T. Brinson, all of Atlanta, GA, Raekwon S. Sallywhite and Rontavious S. Sallywhite, both of Washington, D.C.; four great-grandchildren; seven sisters, Missie A. Bell, Emma M. Boyd, Patricia Jones, Lucy M. Ross, Mary L. Hall, Joyce (Nathaniel) Huff, all of Thomson, GA and Lucille M. Rock of Jersey City, NJ; three brothers, Willie (Martha) Moore, Gordon (Frances) Moore, all of Thomson, GA and Danny (Angie) Bentley of Willingboro, NJ; two additional sisters-in-law, Betty M. Moore of Atlanta, GA and Lois Dunn of Thomson, GA; an additional brother-in-law, Jessie Lee Ross of Thomson, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
