<p>John Michael &ldquo;Mike&rdquo; Pennock, 71, of Danville, departed this life into his heavenly home on June 15th surrounded by his family.&nbsp;</p> <p>He was born July 9, 1949 to the late Jack and Henrietta Pennock, of Danville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Wilson of Danville.&nbsp;</p> <p>He leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Jayne Turner Pennock and two daughters, Amanda (Brad) Godbey and Katie (Ryan) Adams. He was also the beloved &lsquo;Pops&rsquo; to his five grandchildren: Blake Godbey, Alex Godbey, Anna Godbey, Elyse Adams, and Lily Adams.&nbsp;</p> <p>Mike was a graduate of Bryan Station High School and earned his Bachelors and Masters in Education from the University of Kentucky. He received his Rank 1 in Education from Western Kentucky University.&nbsp;</p> <p>He touched multiple lives through his work. Mike taught marketing education and served as DECA advisor&nbsp;for over 30 years in the Washington County and Danville school systems. He was a multiple winner of the Kentucky Marketing Teacher of the Year award, several Regional Teacher of the Year awards, and was named a Kentucky Colonel. He also taught undergraduate and graduate business and marketing classes at the University of Kentucky, Lexington Community College, and St. Catherine College.&nbsp;</p> <p>Although Mike loved his work, he loved spending time with his family even more. He took pride in playing with his grandchildren, attending their sporting events, and being their number one supporter. He loved Walt Disney World, Disney cruises, and the beach and enjoyed sharing many special moments there with his wife, girls, and grandchildren. Mike loved to travel and led numerous trips for adults and high school students to Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Mike loved attending University of Kentucky basketball and football games at home and away. He also loved the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals.&nbsp;</p> <p>Mike loved the Lord and was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Danville. He enjoyed collecting supplies and packing shoeboxes for the Operation Christmas Child program each year.&nbsp;</p> <p>Visitation will be held on Friday, June 18th from 5-8 p.m. at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home in Danville. The Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 19th. Bros. Brent Rowe and Doug Wesley will officiate the service. Pallbearers include Ryan Adams, Brad Godbey, John Dundon, Daniel Dundon, Rob Elmore, Jeremy Wofford,&nbsp;Aaron Etherington, George Stafford, Jerry Hendrix and Justin Hendrix.</p> <p>Memorial contributions can be made to Operation Christmas Child,&nbsp;Calvary Baptist Church&nbsp;214 Lincoln Ave. Danville, Ky 40422&nbsp; or Heritage Hospice PO Box 1213 Danville, Kentucky 40423.</p> <p>The family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers, therapists, and nurses that helped provide love, support, and kindness during his illness.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

John Michael “Mike” Pennock, 71, of Danville, departed this life into his heavenly home on June 15th surrounded by his family.
