<p>Josephine &ldquo;Pheny&rdquo; Webb Cowan, 95, of Graham, died peacefully in her home on Saturday, June 12, 2021.<br /> <br /> A native of Roanoke Rapids, NC, she was the wife of the late Mr. James Cowan, Jr. and the daughter of Mr. Benjamin Sidonius Webb and Mrs. Eugenia Moody Webb, both deceased.<br /> <br /> She was a homemaker, an active member of the Women of the Church at First Presbyterian Church of Burlington, and an avid reader. She was salutatorian of her high school class in Roanoke Rapids, formerly employed at Western Electric Co., where she participated in Wenoca Club choral and theatrical productions, and a former member of Alamance Country Club.<br /> <br /> Survivors include two daughters, Ms. Miriam Cowan and her husband Tom Cheek of Graham, and Dr. Laurie Cowan Marion of Atlanta, Ga.; one son, Mr. James Benjamin Cowan and his wife Kitty of Statesville; four grandchildren, Benjamin Scott Cowan (Megan) of Charlotte; Karl Matthew Kircher of Arlington, VA, Mariah Elizabeth Benfield of Greensboro, NC, and Richard James Marion of Atlanta, GA; one step-grandchild, Dana Marie Bradley (Brian) of Myrtle Beach, SC; two great-grandchildren,Lorelei Kathryn Cowan and Lucille Josephine Cowan of Charlotte; and one step-great-grandchild, Zachary Bradley of Charleston, SC.<br /> <br /> The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at The First Presbyterian Church of Burlington by Rev. Josephine “Pheny” Webb Cowan, 95, of Graham, died peacefully in her home on Saturday, June 12, 2021.

A native of Roanoke Rapids, NC, she was the wife of the late Mr. James Cowan, Jr. and the daughter of Mr. Benjamin Sidonius Webb and Mrs. Eugenia Moody Webb, both deceased.
