Bonnie Elvina Schippers

Bonnie E Schippers, 96, passed away peacefully at the Iowa Veterans Home on June 11, 2021, with her loving family by her side.   Funeral services for Bonnie will be held on Wednesday, June 16th at 11 AM with a visitation 1 hour prior at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. The family invites attendants to a luncheon at the funeral home following the service. After the luncheon, Bonnie will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for later designation. Bonnie spent her childhood among six brothers, who kept her adventurous and active. Bonnie graduated high school in Jamaica, Iowa. On January 31, 1945, Bonnie was united in marriage to the love of her life, Robert Schippers Sr. Bonnie and Robert spent 72 years together, creating a household, raising their two children, and showing them unconditional love. In 1954 the couple moved to Marshalltown, where they lived the rest of their lives. Robert preceded Bonnie in death in 2017.   In Bonnie’s free time, she loved to collect anything that caught her eye. She especially loved jewelry and forming quite the collection of rings, necklaces, and bracelets. She also loved canning any vegetables she could get her hands on. Bonnie was a member of the Order of the Eastern Stars and made many friends through the organization. Left to cherish Bonnie’s memory are her children, Robert Joe Jr. (Karen) Schippers and Pam (Gary) Nablo; her grandchildren, Ashley (Rusty) Shore and Chad (Kelsey) Nablo; her five great-grandchildren, Garrett, Kiptyn, Daxton, Skylar, and Jett; her beloved sister-in-law Betty Jean Pittman; and her niece LeeAnn Scott.   Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Schippers Sr.; and her brothers.
