Kenneth K. Haynes Obituary

KENNETH KAISER HAYNES “K” (07-14-1942 to 06-09-2021, 78) was born in a small town known as, Walterboro, South Carolina.  His parents, Kaiser Haynes, Sr. & Sarah Blake later moved to Cleveland, Ohio where Kenneth attended junior high school at the historic - Rawlings Junior High School, located at: 7520 Rawlings Avenue.  In high school, Kenneth was an honor student at the original, East Technical High School, located at:  2470 East 55th Street @ Scoville Avenue.  There, K studied and received a certificate for Automobile Mechanics which remained a passion of his throughout his life.  Then, after a brief stint at Cuyahoga Community College, Kenneth realized that it was much more important for him to utilize his talents to serve his country in the United States Air Force.  Moreover, it was during his time in the US Air Force that he met his lovely wife, Yvette Maria Huricks in Shreveport, Louisiana and married her in October, 1962.  Hence, the two of them remained married for 59 years until his death.  Also, from that union; their son Riccardo Vicente’ Haynes was born at Torrejon’ United States Air Force Base in Madrid, Spain.  Afterwards, once in possession of his Honorable Discharge from the United States Air Force, Kenneth returned to Cleveland, Ohio and worked several unfulfilling jobs, in addition to trying his hand at self-employment and entrepreneurship, before landing his career job with the City of Cleveland and with the Cleveland Public Utilities Police Division.  Subsequently, Kenneth, being the man that he was and being well-liked by his peers, excelled at his newly-found love for law enforcement and ultimately rose in rank to the grade of Lieutenant and later “Acting Chief” prior to his retirement.  Moreover, through it all; he had the pleasure of serving under his good friend and mentor, Mr. William Tell who later became the Chief of the department.  Simultaneously, while working for the City of Cleveland, Kenneth also served proudly as a part-time Police Officer for the Village of Highland Hills, Ohio for approximately 10 years, earning both the reputation as a “no-nonsense” but fair and compassionate policeman.  At that time, he had the pleasure of serving under the guidance of his other life-long friend, Mr. Alfred Walton who was the Chief of Police at Highland Hills.  Kenneth had a sibling; a brother named Nathaniel Haynes, also an Air Force Veteran who is deceased.  Additionally, Kenneth has a living daughter named, Silvonna Ogletree who is currently employed as a Financial Analyst with a commercial firm and resides in the State of Texas.  Fraternally, Kenneth was a 32nd Degree, Scottish Rite - Prince Hall Freemason in Cleveland, Ohio.  His “Blue-Lodge” home was Eureka Lodge # 52.  After retirement, Kenneth clung ever-so-dearly to his faithful wife, Yvette of 59 years, cooking-out regularly and in friendly competition with his good friend, Mr. William Tell, mentioned above, before finally succumbing to heart disease.  He enjoyed watching sporting events and was a die-hard Cleveland Sports Fan.  Finally, his later-acquired talent and skill for Computer-Repair allowed him to be of superior help and great service to both friends and his family.  HE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED…!!!   Kenneth is survived by his children, grandchildren, grandson (Ryan Ocampo Haynes), loving cousins (The Beddards, Magwoods, Robinsons, Stephens & Haynes), other numerous relatives, former In-Laws & current In-laws (The Huricks Family), and many great friends such as Janice Abernathy, Keevin Berman, Melvin Prince, The Perry Family, Masonic Brothers & Associated Bodies,Co-Veterans, Village of Highland Hills Officers, and Registered Nurse - Marie Dela Cerna (His Newly-found medical friend), along with a whole host of others, too numerous to mention but yet and still, all the more important to him, all of you.  THANK YOU ALL FOR COMING, PAYING YOUR LAST RESPECTS TO HIM, AND FOR YOUR WONDERFUL PRAYERS, SUPPORT & CONDOLENCES.  DAD WOULD BE VERY PROUD.
