Della A. McGuire Obituary

Della A. (Kinkade) McGuire, 85, passed away at 12:15 a.m. on Thursday, June 10th, 2021 at the Presbyterian Manor in Parsons, KS where she had lived for almost three years. She was the youngest of eleven children born to Albert (Bert) Lincoln Kinkade and Bessie Jane (Morrison) Kinkade. Born in Galena, KS, Della lived most of her life there until moving to Parsons in 2018 to be near her son and daughter-in-law. She attended school in Galena and graduated from Galena High School in 1953. On July 28, 1953, Della married Max E. McGuire in Columbus, KS. They were blessed with 46 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on January 21, 1999. Della loved her family immensely and had a heart for all children. She ran a daycare in her home for many years and especially delighted in rocking and holding babies! She was a Cub Scout den mother for her son’s group and later enjoyed working the voting polls during elections. Bowling, Dancing, and listening to music (especially Elvis) were just some of the things that she enjoyed. Working in the kitchen at the Apostolic Faith Bible College was one of her yearly summer activities, and she was a member of the Apostolic Faith Church in Baxter Springs, KS at the time of her death. She played a big part in the lives of many, opening her home and heart to care for them full-time. Some special people in her life were Margaret and David Earl Frazier, Jasyn, Dalaina, Huntyr, Cartyr, Lexy, Lyndsy, Jadyn, and Gunnyr Smith as well as her nieces and nephews. Della is survived by her son, Keith McGuire and his wife Kathy of Parsons; two grandchildren, Erin Hooper and her husband Daniel of Adrian, MO and Ben McGuire of Parsons; three great-grandchildren, Kailee, Ariana, and Tate Hooper; two sisters Dorothy Walton and Frances Cooper. In addition to her parents and husband, Della was preceded in death by five sisters, Thelma (Denzil) Walker, Katy (Art) Spivy, Marguerite (Woody) Evans, Betty (Wayne) Moore, and Rayma (Dick) Trombley; three brothers, Alford Kinkade, Roy (Marie) Kinkade, and Paul Kinkade; a grandson Kyle McGuire. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, June 14, 2021 at the Apostolic Faith Chapel in Baxter Springs with Cody Harris officiating. Burial will be in the Lowell Cemetery at Baxter Springs. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until service time Monday at the church. Friends may call at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home from 1:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.. Memorials are suggested to the Apostolic Faith Chapel or to the Apostolic Faith Bible College.
