Prasanthika Fernando Brookfield, Wisconsin Obituary

Prasanthika Fernando

At age 14, Prasanthika Maduwanthi Fernando (Madu) arrived from Sri Lanka with her parents and younger sister. Together they embarked on an exciting and sometimes challenging journey together in the US. Being a very bright, hardworking and determined young girl she excelled right away in all her studies. She attended Brown Deer High School from 2013 to 2017. A motivated and discernible student, she impressed her teachers and became a part of the National Honors Society club. A soft spoken and kind hearted girl, she was truly well loved by her peers and teachers. Along with her dedication to her studies and outstanding academic accomplishments, she also successfully took on her personal responsibilities as a loving older sister and daughter. She was always there for her parents and sister, always making sure her father had eaten his dinner, always helping her mother with household errands, always looking after her younger sister, and consistently showering all of them with endless warmth and love. Her maturity and understanding was very special and admirable. Realizing how hard her parents worked, she was determined to take advantage of her opportunities. She faced her challenges with bravery and courage, and set ambitious goals for herself that we all knew she could accomplish confidently. Graduating from higher studies with Honors at the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay on May 17, 2021, she was excited and optimistic for her future as she planned to continue onto Medical school. With her benevolent soul, she would have become a remarkable doctor and would have undoubtedly touched the lives of many more people. In preparation for her career in medicine, she was enthusiastic about the professional work opportunity she received as a phlebotomist at Ascension St. Francis. However early Tuesday morning, June 8th, approximately at 4:18 am her precious life ended too soon. At the age of 22, she was in a fatal car accident when she was rear-ended on highway 43 by a semi truck. That is when her life ended here on earth and her spirit continued on into heaven. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord and thankfully her family is blessed to know that that is where she is. No one plans to bury their daughter, family member, or friend, so we are praying and asking that you would have the compassion and love to support this family through prayers and comfort, as nothing was planned for this young life to be gone so soon. Let’s come together to saturate this family in abundant love and support as they continue to grieve in God knowing that He is their ultimate and only comfort. May her spirit live as bright as her smile. Madu, No words can describe how greatly you will be missed here on earth. We will miss your beautiful soft smile, your warm embraceful personality, the peace and serenity you bring to us, and so much more. We will keep all of our memories of you close to our heart, celebrate and keep in remembrance how beautiful and special of a person you are and always will be. We will meet again soon and we love you with all our hearts. Visitation Friday, June 11 at the Harder Funeral Home from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM. An Additional visitation will be held Saturday, June 12 at St. Monica Catholic Church from 9:00 until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM.
