Leonard A Snyder

Manville Leonard A. Snyder 88, died December 10, 2015. Leonard was born and raised in Slatington, Pennsylvania and formerly of Manville and Somerville, moving to Branchburg in 1977 then returning to Manville in 2010. He was employed as a pipe fitter at Johns-Manville Inc. for over 40 years, retiring in 1985. He was a veteran of the US Army during WWII. Leonard was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he served as trustee, and head of maintenance. He was also a member of the American Legion, and was a Cub Scout Master in Somerville and was honored nationally by Scouting Magazine. Leonard was an avid boatman and enjoyed vacationing in the summer at Lake Wallenpaupack. Leonard was very talented in wood working and enjoyed doing puzzles. He will be sadly missed by all family and friends. He is predeceased by his wife Jean Snyder who passed away in 2007, a daughter Carol McCann in 2001, son Samuel Gangwer in 2009, and several brothers and sisters. Surviving are his two sons, Gregg and his wife Barbara, Randy and his wife Maria, four daughters Barbara Steele and her husband Thomas, Margie Polakiewicz, Linda Hagan, and Wendy Salazar and her husband Omar, and eighteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1030am Thursday at the First United Methodist Church, 48 W. High Street, Somerville. Interment will follow at Lake Nelson Memorial Park in Piscataway. Visitation will be Wednesday 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 N. Gaston Ave, Somerville.
